Agra-vermiculite
Vermiculite is a member of the phyllosilicate group of minerals, like mica for example. Raw vermiculite is an ore that consists of golden brown "flakes" with a layered structure. The mineral is purified and separated in various grades. Pull processes this ore in special furnaces at a temperature of about 750°C. During this expansion process, the bonded water in the ore evaporates, which results in exfoliated flakes. The result is a harmonica-shaped structure that contains many air bubbles. Thanks to these air bubbles, Vermiculite has specific qualities used in the horticultural market. The final product of the production process is a beige, harmonica-shaped grain: Vermiculite.
Neither Perlite nor Vermiculite contain any fibres and both are 100% natural.
Agra-vermiculite has a harmonica-shaped structure that contains many air bubbles. Thanks to these air bubbles, Vermiculite has specific qualities used in the horticultural sector. Agra-vermiculite is also an environmentally-friendly product and in addition to the large air capacity, it also has very good water absorption. Agra-perlite is RHP/ECAS certified.
Applications
Agra-vermiculite is excellent as a propagating soil for bulbous plants. It has also proven to be successful as an additive in potting soils, soils for cuttings, sowing soils and plugs. Rooting cuttings or covering seeds are ideal ways to let Agra-vermiculite do its job as a seed medium.
