History of the products

Puvlas
At the end of 1946, the founders - Mr. Pull and Mr. van der Mark - discovered a waste product from the "flax industry" that had good insulating properties.
Shortly after the war cork, which was commonly used for insulation, became very expensive, making this new invention a potential alternative. This was the backdrop for the creation of a new product named 'Puvlas'. The production of insulation dishes and sheets that could reach a temperature of about 100ºC started on the former country estate "Hydepark" in Doorn in July 1947.

Vermiculite
In 1951 Vermiculite, which has a much higher temperature range, was added to the production range. Vermiculite was used to manufacture Pumica shapes, which are currently still being manufactured. As a result of the continuing growth of the company it became necessary to look for a larger site. The company settled at the current site in Rhenen and by 1951 the entire company had moved to this site.

Perlite
Shortly after the relocation period, the company took up a new challenge. Pull was the first company in Europe to expand Perlite. A unique vertical furnace system was developed for this product. Both Perlite and Vermiculite have since become the foundation for a range of insulating materials and horticultural products. In 1969 the company started a sales division for acoustic insulation in response to the numerous noise regulation problems in various industries, from machinery to yacht building.

Perlite substrate
By the end of the 1990s, the use of Perlite as a substrate in horticulture had become an important part of Pull. Today, it is still one of the most important products and is sold in large numbers.

Ongoing, thorough research continues to find new applications for both products, for example the use in the animal feed industry.
