Casings

The casing of a machine insulates the source from its surroundings. The increased sound level is absorbed in the casing. When designing a casing, it is always very important to consider the position but it is also important to consider the transfer of contact sounds through the housing. If these two issues are not taken seriously, this can considerably reduce the effect of the casing. When designing casings, the following standard parts are used as much as possible:

Applications of casings
The product is often used in utility construction (public spaces), office acoustics, industrial acoustics and many other applications where the insulation of airborne noise is required.

Processing of casings
A standard element is made from a hot dip galvanized plate. The elements are fitted with sound-absorbing rockwool with excellent absorption coefficients across a wide frequency area. On the side of the source, a cover film is applied on top of the rockwool. Other materials (such as aluminium or alloyed types of steel) are also used. An acoustic transparent PE foil is applied in case the rockwool comes into contact with water, oil or dust.

Acoustic properties of casings
The desired reduction will be determined for each situation, after which, the casing can be designed. Sound leaks such as cracks and ventilation openings must be taken in consideration.

Casing delivery range
There is no delivery range for casings. All casings are custom-made according to the specific wishes of the customer.

Product specifications
The elements of a casing are made from hot dip galvanized plates. These can be coated in any desired colour. Absorbing rockwool with PE foil will be fitted between these plates,  in case the material comes into contact with moisture or dust.
