Structural noise is the result of vibrations of engines, aggregates, generators and other industrial equipment. These vibrations transmit easily through a structure. If sound reduction material is installed, then the vibrations will be converted into heat. As a result of this conversion, the noise radiating from the structure will decrease. To prevent vibrations spreading through the structure, it makes sense to disconnect parts of the structure . This is explained in the chapter on ‘Insulation of structural noise’. Pull B.V. has developed an excellent package to reduce contact sound. These insulation products are used worldwide.
The treatment of structural noise can be approached in roughly two ways. On the one hand there are sheet structures up to 3mm material thickness and on the other structures thicker than 3mm.
In accordance with VDI 3727, up to a thickness of 3mm, a reducing paste and mass sheets are used; these are respectively:
From 3 mm material thickness up, the following products are used:
Bondal® sheets are often used in the case of new structures to be built. The detailed product specifications are given on each product page.
